Some alternative summer wines: 

Grenache Blanc is a medium-bodied white wine with flavors of peach, apricot, and honey. It is versatile and can be paired with a variety of foods.

Grüner Veltliner is a versatile grape that can be used to produce a wide range of wines, from dry to sweet. The wines are typically light- to medium-bodied, with flavors of citrus, apple, pear, and spice. Grüner Veltliner is often described as having a “green” or “herbaceous” character.

Albariño wines (Alvarinho in Portugal) are typically light-bodied and dry, with high acidity and aromas of citrus, stone fruit, and flowers. They are often described as being refreshing and versatile, and can be paired with a wide variety of foods.

Viognier is a white wine grape variety that originated in the Rhône Valley of France. We just featured a Viognier 2 weeks ago.

Falanghina wines are typically light-bodied and dry, with high acidity and aromas of citrus, peach, apricot, and honeysuckle.

Madeleine Angevine makes an attractive fruity wine with a flowery nose, similar to an Alsatian Pinot blanc. It is crisp, acid and dry and pairs particularly well with seafoods such as crab and oyster.

Siegerrebe wines are typically light-bodied and aromatic, with flavors of citrus, apricot, honeysuckle, and spice. 

Chenin Blanc. Some common flavors found in Chenin Blanc wines include apple, pear, citrus, honeysuckle, and peach.

Dry Sémillon wines are typically light- to medium-bodied with high acidity. They can have aromas of citrus, apple, pear, and honeysuckle.

Torrontés is now the most widely planted white grape variety in Argentina, and are typically light-bodied and aromatic, with flavors of peach, apricot, honeysuckle, and citrus. 

Roussanne wines are typically full-bodied and aromatic, with flavors of peach, apricot, honeysuckle, and citrus.

Marsanne wines are typically full-bodied and aromatic, with flavors of peach, apricot, honeysuckle, and citrus.

Verdejo is Spain’s answer to Sauvignon Blanc. These wines are typically light-bodied and aromatic, with flavors of citrus, apple, pear, and honeysuckle.

The Social Web Wine Word of the Week – Buttload

A butt is a large wooden cask that was used to store wine or other beverages. It is thought to have originated in the Middle Ages. A buttload of wine is 126 gallons. It is an archaic unit of measurement that is no longer in common use.
